Eligibility Criteria

Students passing SSC or equivalent examination are eligible to secure admission for FYJC.

Other Boards

Means the Education Boards other than the State Board viz. - CBSE, ICSE, IGCSE, IB, NIOS or Boards of other States.

  • Students of other boards (Other than Maharashtra State Board) who want to take admission in a Junior College affiliated to Maharashtra State Board within any online admission area should fill online form and participate in this admission process.
  • After entering the examination seat number, the other board student’s information will not be filled automatically as data of such students is not available. These students have to fill in their personal information themselves carefully and get the form approved from the nearest Guidance centre.
  • All students other than Maharashtra Board should approve their online application form from the nearest Guidance Centre. (If the facility is not available in their own school.)
  • If applicants result of Std. X is in Grade form, students have to get the grades converted into marks from their secondary (10th ) School Principal or as per the guidelines of Deputy Director Office. And after that only such students will be able to fill Part-2 of the application form.
  • Eligibility Certificate - Students who have passed 10th exam from any other board need to get eligibility certificate from the state board after admission. An application for eligibility (available with respective Junior College) is required to be submitted along with necessary documents.
  • Other board’s students can participate in this admission process with their provisional marksheet. However they need to submit original copy of marksheet while confirming their admission in the Junior College.
  • For CBSE students first five subjects only will be considered.
  • For ICSE students who have passed out with 6 subjects for them from Group I and Group II any five subjects can be considered.
  • For ICSE students who have passed out with 7 subjects for them there are two options that can be considered.
    • Option – 1: Best of five subjects from Group I & Group II (out of 600) can be considered.
    • Option – 2: Total average of 700 can be considered i.e. Group I, II & III together.

Admission Guidelines

  • The F.Y.J.C. admission is a Centralised Online Process by School Education and Sports Department (SESD), Government of Maharashtra (GRM/HSC170944/09 U MASH I dated 28-06- 2009) through the portal/website SESD Site
  • The college is conferred with the Gujarati Linguistic Minority Status by the Govt. of Maharashtra due to which 50% of the intake will be reserved for the aforesaid Linguistic Minority.
  • Gujarati Linguistic Minority / In-House / Management quota admissions will be conducted by College through Online Process through the portal/website https://admissions.somaiya.edu/
  • All admissions are provisional. They will be confirmed only after the verification of documents submitted.
  • The admission process is strictly as per merit only.
  • The College or the Management do not accept any donation or capitation fees for any admission. Any person approaching the students or parents for donation/capitation fees should be reported to the Principal immediately.
  • The Principal reserves the right to make necessary changes in the details of admission-procedure depending on the circumstances prevailing during the days of admission.

Document Required

Students are required to upload all the documents mentioned below while fill up the Pre- Admission Form Online only.

  • Copy of Online Registration Form Part I & Part II attested by School Authority.
  • Original (S.S.C. / Equivalent Examination ) Mark sheet
  • Original School Leaving Certificate
  • Copy of Hall Ticket ( C.B.S.E )
  • Original Caste Certificate in case of reserved category.
  • Ration Card (First & Last Page ) for Girls concession (only up to second child).
  • College Undertaking - Student can either download the Undertaking / handwritten content with all required information on a plain paper , duly signed by Student & Parent can also be uploaded.
  • Gap Certificate ( if any )
  • Copy of Adhar Card
  • Certificate indicating Gujarati Speaking Minority quota.
    • School Leaving Certificate indicating Mother Tongue as Gujarati .
    • An Affidavit on Rs. 100/- (Rupees Hundred Only) stamped paper solemnly affirming that the candidate belongs to “Gujarati Speaking Community” and duly signed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate of the Court. (format available on website).
    • Authentic proof of belonging to Gujarati Speaking Linguistic Minority Community, such as copy of Community Membership Register (Vasti Patrak)

For Special / Parallel Reservations-

  • Defense Service Men : Certificate issued by District Sainik Board
  • Ex-Service Men: Service Certificate and copy of Identify Card
  • Ward of Freedom Fighters: Certificate issued by Collector
  • Sports : Certificate issued by district sports officer
  • Divyang : Certificate showing Defense Service Men: at least 40% disability issued by Civil surgeon/ Govt. Medical Officer /Municipal Hospital
  • Orphan : Certificate issued by women and family welfare department.
  • Project affected/ Earthquake affected : Certificate issued by Collector .
  • Wards of the Employees of State Government/Central Government/Private Sector coming on transfer in the online admission area - Original Certificate showing transfer of the employee from outside to the online admission area on or after 1st October of last year need to be submitted while taking admission.

For Management Quota-

All above certificates except the “Gujarati Speaking Certificate”

Students must submit all the above mentioned documents , Original with 2 Xerox copies on the given schedule ( as & when ) declared by the college.

Refund of Fees

Mode of refund fees

The student may request for Refund of FEE in case of Cancellation Of Admission (as per the rules & regulations stated by Govt. Of Maharashtra). The refund of fees shall be made on or before 30 days after the date of cancellation and thereafter. The refund of fees shall be deposited directly in Bank Account mentioned in the Cancellation Form submitted by the student after deduction of few amount of total fee.

The fee for Un Aided ( Voc. Science – Computer Science & Electronics / I.T ) courses will be non refundable.

Reservation Policy

The college is conferred with Gujarati Linguistic Minority status by the Govt. Of Maharashtra under which 50 % of the seats are reserved for the aforesaid linguistic minority. The remaining seats are allotted as per merit and according to the norms laid down by Govt. of Maharashtra from time to time.

Gujarati Linguistic Minority admission is as per the guidelines given by Education Department. Admission is strictly as per merit list prepared by the College administration.
